Break Those Bad Eating Habits
By Denise Austin,

Eating less and
exercising more aren't the only keys to lifelong weight control. You
also need to recognize — and break — bad food habits you may have
formed. Try these do-and-don't tips from the experts at Michigan's
Genesys Regional Medical Centre:
Do eat some fat — just
make sure it's the healthy kind! Good sources include salmon and
other fatty fish, avocados, olive oil, and nuts.
Don't try to completely
eliminate fat from your diet.
Do eat complex
carbohydrates in moderation. Reach for whole grains, fresh fruit,
and vegetables.
Don't cut out all carbs.
Do include fruits and
vegetables with every meal.
Don't focus on calories
alone.
Do have treats in small
amounts so you don't feel deprived.
Don't make certain
foods "totally off-limits."
Do keep your eyes on
the long-term goal — slow and steady wins the race! |
